Its Saturday,What's New!!!!!

I posted on Linda's thread by mistake......or maybe not.

Anyhow.....I've been to EssenHaus for breakfast with my kids.  It's the DIL's birthday and that's where she wanted to go.   They each had two plates of food, I had part of a plate that took me all the time they were eating for me to get down.....it was delicious, but oh I was
full.

It's been raining all morning -- really miserable driving down to Middlebury, Indiana.

For those who aren't familiar Das Dutchmen EssenHaus is a fabulous amish restaurant famed for their meals.  They have
a "Thrasher's Breakfast" on Saturday for $6.95 all you can eat.  They also serve family style chicken dinners.   Wonderful delicious food.
They asked to see my "card" and I got $1.50 taken off the price of my breakfast, so it was worth mentioning it.

Don't feel like cleaning house, so guess I will settle down with my book and read -- think I need the rest.

Foot is hurting most of the time, even with the pain meds.  Didn't get brace - they couldn't or wouldn't take the time to make it fit...so I said forget it.

Prayers for your house showing this afternoon, Margo.

Jan, good luck with the eggs, I still have trouble with eggs if they are soft cooked..... I think if you could find the Kroger Carb Master yogurt it would be a nice way of getting in protein -- 12 gm. per container.

I don't seem to have trouble with eggs.  Just takes a long time to eat them.  I threw half of them out finally so just had 1 scrambled egg and some watermelon today.  I love carbmaster yogurt, and I'm having one for lunch.  Then probably a protein shake for a snack and shrimp or crab for dinner.

Eggs are the tuffist things in the world for me to eat. The only way I can do them is poached.
My suggestion at this early stage is not to worry about calories. Keep your focus on Protein and fluids. The calories will follow later.

When I was early out at your stage I was on puree...so the shakes were life savers to me. I did 3 aday at that stage, and now at almost 9 years I do 5 a day....

Take it easy on your new pouch, it is trying to learn how to be a stomach. Your pouch is made of the portion of your stomach that didn't have to really do anything and now it has to learn, that's why you have to chew your foods for puree consistency.....

It will get better......

If eggs bother you, try Egg Beaters ... might go down easier. I used those at first, then graduated to eggs. But I really didn't have problems with any foods (other than Chinese foods early ... too much fibrous stuff and I tried to eat too fast and it all came up ... and that was at about 3 months).

I agree with Darlene ... don't worry about the calories ... concentrate on the protein. You're still early out and your pouch is young. Take it easy on it.

Hi Carla and my OFF family:

It's supposed to be a hot one this weekend, but right now it's pouring rain. It was dark and dreary this morning, so I slept til 11 a.m., Scooter snuggled by my side. I woke up at 9, but it was still dark outside and I didn't want to get up ... next thing I knew, it was 11. Still didn't want to get up, but knew I had to, because I have to work today at 3. Don't want to do that either, but got to. Need money.

Had my gyne checkup yesterday (George, Marc, Floyd, look away ... not for male eyes) ...  she found another cervical polyp, no big surprise there. I seem to have one every year. So she removed that while she was doing my Pap and will test it. I'm having some bleeding yet from the polyp removal (she said I would, so I'm not surprised, although it's more than in the past ... mostly it's annoying). She poked around to feel my uterus and now wants to do an ultrasound ... so that's next Friday.

Carla, sorry to hear about the tree ... wow, that would scare me too. When I first moved into the condo, there was a big crash early one morning in the living room. One of my big embroidery pictures fell from the wall in the hallway, broke the glass and everything, hit the bookcase, a couple of the bobbleheads. It was a real mess ... had to pick up glass pieces for days afterwards. Anyway, it took awhile to get it fixed, but when I did, I rehung it and a day later, in the middle of the night, it fell again. Took it back to Michaels and they said it wasn't done right, so they put the glass back in for free and did it right this time. But it was freaky having that happen twice. Glad there was no major damage to your house (although technically, it's your cousin's house).

Well, have a good day everyone. Margo, hope the showing goes well. No chickens to swing ... do chicken thighs count? I have a couple packages of ground round in the fridge, I could swing those. Or just cross toes and fingers and legs ... good thoughts sent your way!

Aloha Carla and OFF family......

Wow, Carla.......that could have turned out much worse!! I imagined a 40 foot tree falling ON YOUR HOUSE!!

Well, we all all battening down the hatches here as hurricane Felicia approaches. Thankfully she has been downgraded from a 4 to a 1, and they are still up in the air whether she will hit at a 1 or downgrade to just torrential rains and 40 MPH winds. Everyone is freaking and the stores are selling out of the essentials......water, batteries, soup, etc. I have yet to buy anything, but may stock up on some water today. You know how we can't be withou****er!!

Carla...I don't know how you live somewhere that has hurricanes so often. They are so stressful as we wait to see what they are going to do. This is the closest one has come since I lived on Maui.....in 8 years. Iniki did huge damage about 10 years ago, especially to Kauai, so people who lived here then get even more nervous.

Anyway, I'm off to do an errand and then back home all snug in my little nest to see what happens.

Hope you all have a good day

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Hey Miss Karen,
I think I moved to an area that hasnt seen a hurricane for 54 years. There was one that was supposed to hit last year around this time but it hit Tampa instead....Tampa is 40 miles north of us. We havent had any hurricanes or sighting this season yet!!!!!
AS for my tree that has fallen it was a dead one that just bit the dust......It did kill our grill. so the neighbor will be buying us a new one!!!!!
It was the neighbors tree so he has to deal with it.

 Good evening.
What a day.  Last night my hubby fell at 11:30 pm.  I had just fallen off to a wonderful sleep and he came in - Mary - I think I might have done something to my shoulder.  Well he took off his shirt and it was not pretty.  I could tell he needed to be seen tonight.

Remember I live on an island and time is critical - the last boat off is at 1 am.  So at 12 midnight we head for the boat after I wake 1 of the boys and tell them we will be gone for the night at the ER.

The ER was very slow - just 3 people - wow.  The exray revealed a separated shoulder at a high grade - ouch.  Well - you may not know this but my hubby at the age of 15 had a bullet to his head (details another day).  He had little action or feeling on his right side - that was the side he feel on.  He did not feel the pain he should have been in.

They gave him a sling - some meds and said 'see an ortho' but rest is the best for this' and off we went back to the boat to the island.

Next boat - 5:20 am.  He slept on the dock - like a rock.  I - felt like a rock was under my neck!

Home at 6 am - power went out last night (island life).  It was a *****illy here - in the 50s and the house was cooler.  Got him to bed - then I sat for an hour and had to run the boys to their job.

The rest of the day was
running kids
running meds
running meals
running laundry
running dogs
running to the phone to deal with my father's illness (3000 miles away).

It's not almost 5 pm.  I am a bit tired of running right now.

I sure hope I lost at least 1 pound!
Wait - I forgot to eat!!! run to eat for myself......

I have appointments Sunday night (CPap) and Monday - echocardiogram and pre-anesth  - I did not want to go alone - but here I am.

Have a good evening gang

It's 10.08 and I just had half a PB&J sandwich....helps me sleep.

This has been the craziest day....never did read my book, watched PGA golf on TV, went to 5:30 church, and then watched two movies....now I'm off to bed and hopefully some good sleep.

Nite all,
Pat R.
